The Day the Music Died: Burlington Community Concert Series comes to an end
From classical and country to Motown and tribute bands, enthusiastic patrons will feel an immediate void in Burlington entertainment
The Burlington Community Concert Series, co-sponsored by Burlington Public Schools and the Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce, has announced that it has cancelled the series, effective immediately.
The series, purposefully designed to allow access to a publicly supported venue with concerts that local residents could enjoy in an affordable manner, took pride in bringing high quality performances to enrich the community through the performing arts. It quickly became a favorite option of many seeking world-class entertainment at their doorstep.
In a recent letter to patrons, Superintendent of Schools Eric Conti explained, “It is with great disappointment that . . . after three years of programming without the security of corporate sponsorships, we were not able to break even and, as a school department, could not continue to operate at a loss.”
