Vincent Milano is the owner and on-site jeweler of A Touch of Midas Jewelers, located at 271 Cambridge St. This is the jeweler to go to for custom work as well as to find diamonds and other jewelry. Milano has a passion for jewelry and loves what he does. His main objective is having his customers leave his store happy with his work and their purchase.

Diamonds are the most popular item at Touch of Midas, Milano said. A diamond customer is offered a consultation so that he may get the information he needs before deciding on his purchase; and there is a lot to learn about diamond cut, quality and design. A customer can then make an educated decision on what type of diamond to buy.

Milano started out at Diamond Imports in Burlington. He learned about jewelry-making as an apprentice before heading out to start his own business. He's been at his present location for 25 years and in Burlington for 30 years. Milano ran Touch of Midas Jewelers with his wife Sandy until she passed away last May.

“It's a different atmosphere now,” Milano said.

Milano has a large clientele that includes many people that work and live in Burlington. A Touch of Midas Jewelers proudly displays 2 plaques in the store honoring them as “best jeweler.”

“I am really thankful to the people of Burlington for being such faithful customers,” said Milano.

Custom work is a specialty offered with a personal touch at A Touch of Midas and Milano tells this story to illustrate: Rick Segel, local author and motivational speaker, was on a speaking engagement to a group of jewelers in Las Vegas. Segel tells the story of how he wanted to get his wife a ring and went to one of the larger jewelry stores to ask to have a custom piece done. This store couldn't do the ring that his wife had in mind. Finally he went to Touch of Midas and Milano made the perfect ring for his wife. It’s the exact ring that she had in mind.

The first career for Milano was in the culinary arts field. He worked as a chef, graduating from the Culinary Institute in 1970. One of his favorite employers was the Prince Grotto in Lowell.  “This was my favorite place to work as executive chef,” said Milano. He also did a radio show about cooking on WLLH.

It is a story of a successful career change as Milano is now doing what he loves, being a jeweler.
