Local Gloucester mom of three Dana Rousmaniere, author of North Shore Baby: A Field Guide for Parents North of Boston (Union Park Press, 2011), will share some of the great information she learned while writing the book on Friday, March 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Barnes & Noble in Burlington. This talk and discussion will follow an appearance by Clifford the Big Red Dog at Mr. Ed’s Storytime. Both events are free and open to the public.
While writing North Shore Baby, Rousmaniere went to the experts: local moms. The result is the book that Rousmaniere wishes she had on hand during those first months as a new mother. North Shore Baby is full of activities, daytrips, family-friendly shopping tips, and other essentials about raising a family on the beautiful North Shore.
With spring just around the corner (and summer following closely behind), parents will benefit from Rousmaniere’s expert knowledge on the wealth of family-friendly activities and events offered on the North Shore.

“Everyone knows about the area’s beaches, but people tend to overlook the region’s other great offerings,” says Rousmaniere. “There are so many opportunities to enrich your child’s early education on the North Shore. You can nurture your children’s interests by signing them up for a variety of classes, enrich their education by taking advantage of wonderful nature programming and concerts, or introduce them to the wonders of local agriculture. Likewise, new parents might not realize how many wonderful support and mommy and me groups are available.”
Rousmaniere aims to share the indispensable information she learned while researching and writing North Shore Baby; from postnatal resources, to family friendly dining spots throughout the region, to tips on enrolling kids in school. The audience is invited to share their own insights and tips for making the most of life on the North Shore. Rousmaniere will be available to answer questions and to sign copies of North Shore Baby.
Rousmaniere is a writer, editor, and content manager for online and print publications. She has written for Fit Pregnancy, Good Housekeeping, The Atlantic Monthly Online, Northshore Magazine, and others. Dana lives on Boston’s North Shore with her husband and three children.
