For Sale: Antique Cavalier Cedar Chest in S. Billerica, $119

ANTIQUE CAVALIER CEDAR BLANKET / STORAGE CHEST OR WINDOW BENCH
Selling an antique cedar chest made by Cavalier. Needs refinishing (some of the veneer is peeling) but has "great bones" - beautiful copper hardware, cedar lining and rails to make a great window seat . Had planned to refinish it and turn it into a window seat but I have no time.

Chest dimensions:
51" wide
25" high, without the back
31" high, including the back
22.5" deep

A bit of info I found about Cavalier:

"Cavalier cedar chests were built in Chattanooga, Tennessee from Tennessee red cedar by the Tennessee Furniture Company beginning in 1923. The "Cavalier" line and trademark was only used for cedar chests and iceboxes. Since Cavalier cedar chests have solid cedar cores, they typically functioned as hope chests or linen chests "" as long as the chest was maintained, the cedar oil would keep moths from attacking the contents. Women often kept their detailed laces, embroidered material or fine wools in their cedar chests in order to preserve them from attacking pests. The ice boxes, beverage coolers and Coca-Cola vending machines they built in the same period were not constructed of cedar. Unfortunately, since the company changed hands several times in the later part of the twentieth century, many of the records were lost through the years, so there are no reference codes for the serial numbers on the chests or model line details except those that antique dealers have parsed together. "

Asking $119 or best offer. Will deliver for an additional charge.
