Rabid Fox Attacks Three Burlington Women, Police Officer
For six hours Tuesday, a fox that tested positive for rabies terrorized a Burlington neighborhood.

BURLINGTON, MA -- Police said Wednesday that a rabid fox that attacked three women in Burlington and then charged at a police officer that eventually shot it had rabies. Two women were attacked Tuesday morning and a third was attacked six hours later.
Jeanette Bowler used a Wiffle Ball bat to fight off a fox that attacked her in her Burlington yard Tuesday morning. The fox went on to attack Bowler's next door neighbor. Six hours later, another Burlington woman was attacked. Burlington Police said an officer shot and killed the fox, but not before it charged at the officer.
"I was kicking at it and swinging her backpack at it and trying to keep it away long enough for her to get into the house," Alexandra Laverty, who was attacked while walking with her daughter, told WBZ-TV. "It wouldn’t give up. It was relentless. It was just at me, at me, at me like it just wouldn’t stop."
