Gift Card Scam, Stolen Flash Drive: Burlington Police Logs

Excerpts from the Burlington police logs.

BURLINGTON, MA — The following are excerpts from the Burlington police logs. Information below does not indicate a conviction.

Nov. 29

8:43 a.m.: A caller reported a male in a gray jeep driving up and down area streets taking pictures. The caller was advised to call the station if he returns.

1:51 p.m.: A reporting party stated that a flash drive with important documents was stolen from a computer. The suspect was a white male approximately aged 55 to 65 with a grey beard wearing a dark jacket and a dark green knit cap.

7:23 p.m.: A caller requested assistance identifying a detained shoplifter. A small amount of prepared foods were consumed by the alleged shoplifter, the store did not wish to press charges.

Nov. 30

12:53 a.m.: Police found a male party scraping out of a dumpster. He spoke with the site supervisor and was given permission.

5:12 p.m.: A person reported that on Nov. 29 someone had fraudulently withdrew $2300 from his savings account with Capital One 360. The withdrawal was done at the Capital One branch in Queens, NY, and the person is in contact with the branch.

Dec. 1

7:22 a.m.: An operator reports a road rage incident with another vehicle on Center Street. The operator said another motorist angrily got out of the car yelling during the incident causing her great concern.

3:32 p.m.: A person noticed the door open to his neighbor's house who are away on vacation. The person also indicated they have a relative check the home while they are away.

3:55 p.m.: Best Buy on Middlesex Turnpike reported a woman purchasing $3,500 in gift cards after purchasing $3,000 in gift cards earlier in the day. She told the clerk that they are for a relative in the hospital. She was advised that this was a scam and not to purchase gift cards anymore.
