Man Falls Through Skylight Removing Snow from Roof

The Burlington town worker suffered serious injuries.

A Burlington town worker was injured Friday morning when he unknowingly stepped on a skylight and fell approximately 35 feet into the building below while clearing snow from the roof of a town-owned warehouse.

Fire Chief Steve Yetman said the Burlington Fire Department and EMS crews responded to 10 Great Meadow Row for a report of a fall at 11:10 a.m. Friday morning.

Upon arrival, responders found a 32-year-old male had been clearing snow from the roof of the warehouse when he unknowingly stepped on a skylight and fell approximately 35 feet into the building below.

The victim, a town employee, was taken by Burlington Ambulance to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center with injuries that are considered serious but non life-threatening.

“Clearing snow from rooftops can always be a dangerous task, especially when the snow is deep, and you may not know what you are stepping on,” Chief Yetman said. “Fortunately, rescue crews were able to get to the victim quickly and rush him to the hospital.”
