The Music Man at Burlington High School hits the high note on opening night!

Opening night of Burlington High School's production of "The Music Man" is a huge success, an American classic for the entire family

Opening night was magical as Burlington High School’s production of The Music Man opened on Friday, March 20. An American musical favorite, it counts itself amongst the favorites at BHS and has now found its way into the hearts of a whole new generation in the performances held in the Fogelberg Performing Arts Center. Remaining performances take place on March 21, 27 and 28 at 7:30 pm, and March 29 at 2:00 pm.

An American musical favorite, The Music Man tells the story of Professor Harold Hill (portrayed by Steven Gelberg), a con man of the generations who goes to River City, Iowa, with the hope of swindling the town out of their savings by proclaiming to be a band director who will transform by teaching music to the children of River City. The most important thing transformed is the professor himself as he falls in love with local librarian and music teacher Marian Paroo (Rachel Seeley).

Filled with songs that are classics from the American musical songbook, favorite songs include “76 Trombones,” ”Trouble,” ”Good Night My Someone,” “Good Night Ladies,” and “Til There Was You” (covered by Paul McCartney and the Beatles so many years ago).
