The Academy of Creative Arts: Innovation and Efficiency for Children’s Creative Development
Tucked away in a spacious lot off of Middlesex Turnpike, the Academy of Creative Arts’ brick facade is a stark contrast to its modern interior. Inside of the newly-renovated building, students of all ages can be seen diligently working on art projects or learning choreography to upbeat music. The academy's recent relocation to its current 18,000 square foot facility has provided a larger space to host all of the activity that takes place within its walls. From painting classes and Bollywood dance to language lessons and public speaking, the academy boasts a diverse catalogue of programs with some of Boston’s most talented instructors to boot.
Previously located in Lexington, the institution was created upon a specific vision: the academy would be a place where creativity would thrive for the benefit of both the student and the parent. While students’ artistic potential would be cultivated, a community could be built upon their extracurricular passions. Parents would benefit from the convenience of gathering at a single location for their children’s interests, and could even sign up to take classes themselves. Founders Java and Hetal Joshi have recognized a strategic and beneficial way to facilitate this process. Various forms of art flourish under one roof, providing an efficient space where students can pursue their interests in fine and performing arts while the parents’ busy schedules are kept in consideration.
With two children of their own, the married couple’s mission to streamline the extracurricular experience is an innovative and inspirational feat that stems from a genuine desire to help other children and their families. The importance of cultivating creative and artistic potential from a young age is often overlooked as scholastic and academic priorities are gradually emphasized into and beyond adolescence. Rather than drawing a bold divide between the two and regarding extracurricular activities as a separate entity from traditional academics, the purpose of the academy is to approach these seemingly conflicting sides with a synergy that benefits the growth of the other. Above all, the institution strives to create a safe environment where students can freely explore their talents while learning to appreciate the arts in an engaging, fun way.
The move to a new location has opened up greater possibilities for the academy, as news has been quickly spreading to surrounding towns and families. Somewhat secluded from the main roads of Burlington, the academy’s location just off the busy middlesex turnpike makes it easy for parents to safely drop off their children without having to worry about competing traffic.
As for what’s coming next, the academy is planning to bring all forms of education and extracurricular activities under one roof. While its current list of programs is already diverse, it mostly centers around the creative and performing arts. Plans to utilize the racquetball room and gym will incorporate more physical fitness programs, and STEM education courses will be added to foster technical skills from a young age. The popularity of the academy’s public speaking class proves to be a bright precursor to future endeavors into school-related territory.
