I am honored to be elected to the School Committee. Thank you to everyone who voted. I would also like to thank my friends and family who gave their time holding signs, writing dear friend cards and for the many other ways they supported me through this campaign. A HUGE thank you to my knowledgeable and supportive committee members. We ran a professional campaign based on my experience, qualifications and by discussing the issues. I could not have succeeded without their help.
In the short run the committee’s energy will be spent working to implement the guidelines set by the Department of Health and the DESE to bring our students back to school safely. We need to discuss ways to implement consistency and improvements to the remote learning process. Beyond this we need to continue to move forward with the major rehabbing of the high school. The stage is now set for rehabbing Fox Hill and Pine Glenn elementary schools. I am a firm supporter of keeping both of these schools, because the neighborhood school concept is best for our school community. Plans have begun for these projects.
I will invest whatever effort is needed to make sure the long-term results serve our children, teachers and families for years to come.
Carl Foss
I would like to thank the voters of Burlington for all of the support they gave me over the course of this extended campaign. It was truly a team effort and I couldn't have done it alone. We tried to run a campaign that focused on ideas and issues. I think that really resonated with voters and resulted in today's victory. Looking forward, I am ready to hit the ground running to work with the rest of the committee and district administration to build on past successes and face the pressing challenges head on.
