New Steak House is Coming to Burlington and Other Restaurant News

Burlington

High-End Steak House Opening in Northwest Park

The Webber Restaurant Group, which owns the Gibbet Hill Grill in Groton, the Scarlet Oak Tavern in Hingham, and Fireside Catering in Burlington, will soon open a new high-end steak house as part of the 3rd Avenue Northwest Park complex.

The restaurant will be The Bancroft, which will have seasonal, locally-sourced menu options. Nordblom Company, which owns the property, said the restaurant will appeal to the youthful, urban crowd.

Arlington

New Eateries Host Grand Openings

Two relatively new East Arlington food establishments hosted official grand openings recently.

Something Sweet Without Wheat at 169 Mass. Ave., is a gluten/wheat-free bakery and Anthony’s East Side Deli at 159 Mass. Ave. is a new deli that also unveiled a gluten-free menu.

Menotomy Grill & Tavern Gets Ready for its Opening

Menotomy Grill & Tavern at 25 Mass. Ave. is close to opening its doors.

Owner Billy Lyons, of Arlington, who has been in the restaurant for roughly three decades, said he designed about 90 percent of the restaurant himself. “I’ve had it in my head for years,” he said.

Lyons has hired Mark Thompson as the restaurant’s chef. The two worked together at Stoddard’s Fine Food & Ale in Boston. Thompson was also the chef de cuisine at Chez Henri in Cambridge for nearly a decade. Here is the restaurant’s opening menu.

Brigham’s Restaurant is Changing Its Name 

The final piece of the Arlington institution known as Brigham’s will soon be gone. 

A spokeswoman for Lynnfield-based Hood, which bought the ice cream brand in 2008, recently said the four Brigham’s-named restaurants – in Andover, Quincy and Hingham as well – will have to change their names, as Brigham’s ice cream will no longer be sold in three-gallon tubs. The restaurants are run as independently-owned franchises.

Bedford

Panera is Testing a New Concept

Panera is trying out something new with its Bedford location at 213 Burlington Road at the corner of Middlesex Turnpike.

There are still be sandwiches, soups, salads and baked goods, but the Bedford location is focused on takeout and delivery.

b.good Opening Soon in Bedford

The “healthy” hamburger eatery is opening soon at 168 Great Road.

b.good already has a business on Mall Road in Burlington and the Bedford location will be its 11th. They are also planning to open in Rhode Island, Connecticut and Maine.

Concord

Comella's Cooking Up a Second Course in Concord

Comella's closed its 18-seat Walden Street spot, but will re-open in a few months, after building out a 33-seat restaurant at 33 Main St, the former home of Concord Hand Designs.

"We hope the locals will follow us to the new location, and we hope it will give us more exposure to tourists," said Harry Donovan, manager of the Concord store. "We're excited to have to opportunity for more seats and more space."

Comella's is targeting late August or September for re-opening on Main Street, but no firm date has been set, according to Donovan, who said the Concord staff will be picking up shifts at other Comella's locations until the local restaurant reopens.

Woburn

Local Moms Crafting Sweet Treats Right From Home

Nicole Falsetti, of Woburn, has teamed up with Jess Calderara, of Windham, NH, to build a new bakery business.

Sensationally Sweet Cupcakes & Other Baked Goods began in January 2013 right out of Calderara's kitchen.

Though the bakery is located in New Hampshire, customers will be able to pick up orders in Woburn.
