Pair That Killed Woman In Burlington Hotel Found Guilty

The two men had targeted women who had advertised sexual services online for a string of July, 2015 robberies.

BURLINGTON, MA -- Two men who killed a woman at the Extended Stay America Hotel in Burlington in July 2015 were found guilty by a Middlesex Superior Court jury Wednesday. Derrell Fisher, 23, of, Roxbury, and Epshod Jeune, 27, of Burlington, were found guilty on multiple charges for the crime spree from July 1 to July 2, 2015, including the fatal shooting of Sanisha Johnson, 34, of the Bronx, New York and a robbery at the Red Roof Inn in Woburn. Sentencing is scheduled for Thursday at 9 am.

The men targeted women that had placed ads online soliciting sexual services. After arranging meetings with the women, they robbed them at gunpoint.

"These women were specifically targeted because of their profession and the belief that they would be unwilling to report the armed robberies. The defendants’ greed led to their shooting and killing Sanisha Johnson in her own hotel room," District Attorney Marissa Ryan said in a statement.

Fisher and Jeune were arrested in Winchester a day after the murder. The woman who had been robbed in Woburn contacted police after seeing news reports about Johnson's murder. That woman's credit cards were found in one of the defendant's possession when he was arrested. The men had also tried to rob a third woman in Saugus on the same night, but that woman declined to let them in.
