Roche Brothers Will Close Burlington Store On Dec. 9
With sluggish sales, a lease ending and a new Waltham store about to open, Roche Brothers ends its 16-year run in Burlington.

BURLINGTON, MA —Roche Brothers will close its Burlington store on December 9, the date its current lease expires. The store has anchored the Burlington Crossroads shopping plaza on Cambridge Street since opening in 2001.
The Wellesley-based grocery store chain said employees at the Burlington store would be offered positions at its other locations. The chain currently has 18 stores in greater Boston and on Cape Cod. A statement from the company did not indicate how many employees would be affected.

Employees received a letter last week telling them that the store would be closing. That letter said the decision to not renew the lease was because of low sales at the Burlington store.
The store closing comes as Roche Brothers announced the opening of a new "Brothers Marketplace" store in Waltham next spring. The next closest Roche Brothers store to Burlington is in Acton, which the company opened in 1995. The company said it would continue to offer catering and delivery services in the Burlington area.
