Schneider, Moulton Have Only Public Meeting Before Election

Wednesday night's forum was sponsored by WBZ and was billed as a "discussion," not a debate.

BEVERLY, MA -- U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA) met his Republican challenger in their only scheduled faceoff prior to the Nov. 6 election -- a fact that GOP nominee Joseph Schneider was quick to note Wednesday night. "He was courageous in combat but he’s politically scared," Schneider said of the incumbent's refusal to have more face-to-face debates -- although the event Wednesday at Endicott College was billed as a discussion. The hour-long event was sponsored by WBZ.

While the discussion was mostly courteous with both candidates agreeing on the need for more civility in national politics, Schneider did take some shots at Moulton. In addition to noting Moulton's refusal to engage in more debates ahead of the election, he accused Moulton of funding his campaign with "dark money" from special interest groups.
