Shakespeare plays on at Burlington High School with performance of "Twelfth Night"

Burlington High School’s Drama Club will present William Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, Twelfth Night, or What You Will on November 19 and 20, in the Fogelberg Performing Arts Center of Burlington High School.

Believed to have been written in the early 17th century for the close of the Christmas season, Twelfth Night’s plot and subplots are filled with riotous twists and turns, revolving around “a cross-dressing, ship-wreck surviving, poetry-loving girl who finds herself at the center of a not so average love triangle.” (Shmoop Editorial) Home of the Shakespearean phrase, “If music be the food of life, play on,” Twelfth Night is thought to be one of the most popular and musical of Shakespeare’s comedies.

Leading the cast are Julianna Grossman as Viola/Cesario and Patrick Creedon as Orsino, with Ivy Saltsman as Lady Olivia and Ben Horgan as Malvolio.

Also featured are Harry White as Sir Toby Belch, Nathaniel Trofimow as Sir Andrew Aguecheek, Crystal Curran as Feste, Alison Martin as Maria, Michele Pothier as Fabian, SashaFesti as Sebastian and Mikey Fazio as Antonio.

Rounding out the cast are Ashwini Shinde as Valentine, Luis Villalta as A Sea Captain, Christina Raposo as Curio, Christian Weisse as Priest, and Caitlin Shea and Nadia Zagajori as officers.

Directed by BHS English teacher Kade Hill, Twelfth Night is produced by John Middleton-Cox. The creative team includes Peter Waldron as Set Designer, Maureen Krebs as Costume Designer, John Porter as Audio Visual Consultant and Middleton-Cox as Lighting Designer. Burlington High School students complete the technical crew with Will Rizza as Sound Technician, Ashley DeFrancesco as Stage Manager, Billy Waisnor III as Assistant Stage Manager and Sanjana Manghnani as Lighting Technician.

Performances of Twelfth Night will take place on Saturday, November 19 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, November 20 at 2:00 pm. Tickets range from $5-$15 and are available online at www.BurlingtonTheatre.com, by email at tickets@bpsk12.org, by phone at 781-A-FUN-TIC and at the door.
