Shootout Win Sends Boys Hockey to State Title Game

Burlington High School nipped Winchester, 2-1, in the North Division 1 final to push into the state championship game in hopes of winning a second straight crown.

Counted out by many early in the season, the champs are ready for another Garden party.

Burlington High School is headed back to TD Garden in hopes as repeating as state champion after winning a second straight North Division 1 crown on Monday night.

The game went to a shootout after it was deadlocked at 1-1 after regulation and a 12-minute overtime. Joey Scali ripped home his shootout attempt to clinch the 3-1 penalty shot win, and head coach Bob Conceison's charges will now play on Sunday, March 17, for a state title.

"It's so hard to get there. But to get there again, I can't even describe what it's like," said Conceison. "A lot of people didn't think these kids could get back there. But they have a lot of heart, and they showed a lot of heart tonight."
