Should establishments selling liquor, beer or wine be allowed to stay open beyond 6 p.m. on Sundays? Burlington selectmen had that question before them this week as they discussed possible scenarios.
Representatives of Wegmans, opening later this month at 3rd Ave, asked the town’s board of selectmen for approval to keep their beer and wine section open later on Sundays, prompting the board to take up the matter at its meeting this week, Burlington Cable Access TV is reporting.
Currently the mandatory closing time for stores selling liquor and/or beer and wine in town is 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Attorneys for Wegmans say weekends are busy shopping times, one selectmen says it’s worth revisiting since the law hasn’t changed in almost a decade.
Should the town allow for a later opening on Sunday, it would be allowed for all establishments in town selling liquor, beer or wine.
