Student Taken From Burlington Elementary School In Ambulance

In a note to parents, Memorial Elementary Principal Deborah Dressler asked parents to reassure their children that they are safe at school.

BURLINGTON, MA -- A student was taken by ambulance to an area hospital from Memorial Elementary School in Burlington following a "medical emergency" Wednesday. In a note to parents, Principal Deborah Dressler did not address the specific nature of the emergency or offer an update on the student's condition. Instead, she warned parents that their children may have seen a fire truck and ambulance at the school at dismissal time Wednesday and that they may have questions about the incident.

The student, Dressler said, was safely transported and being evaluated at a local hospital.

"These type of events are not common for children to see at school so they may be asking questions about it," Dressler wrote. "Please reassure them that students are safe at school and when accidents happen we all work together with school and town services to make sure everyone is taken care of."
