Thousands Vote Early In Burlington State Primary Election

Over 4,000 had voted early as of Friday, easily clearing state primary voter turnout over the last decade.

BURLINGTON, MA — Over 4,000 ballots had already been cast in the state primary in Burlington as of Friday morning, town clerk Amy Warfield.

All voters were eligible to vote by mail in the 2020 state primary, and in-person early voting lasted seven days, ending Friday

With 4,202 ballots received, Burlington voter turnout had already exceeded other state primary elections over the last decade. In 2018, 2,914 votes were cast, the highest number for any state primary back to 2008.

Burlington has several races on the ballot this year, with both Democrats and Republicans having contested senate primaries. U.S. House 6th District residents also have a Democratic primary to vote in.
