Three New Officers Appointed to Burlington Police Department

Chief Michael Kent is pleased to announce that three new officers are joining the Burlington Police Department.

The Board of Selectmen appointed Timothy Alben, Rameez Gandevia and Brian Hanafin on Monday night. They will begin an intensive six-month police training course at a local academy.

“We are excited to welcome these three officers to the Burlington Police Department,” Chief Kent said in a statement. “Their experiences and backgrounds will be a great benefit to the department.”

Alben, from East Longmeadow, holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Westfield State University. He is currently a Lance Cpl. reservist in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is the son of Timothy and MaryAnn Alben.

Gandevia, a Burlington native, is attending the University of Massachusetts Lowell to earn hisbachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is the son of Munir and Kim Gandevia

Hanafin, of Burlington, earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Salem State University. He previously worked in accounting before making the transition to law enforcement. He is the son of James and Susan Hanafin.
