Track Teams Excel in Seeding Meet

Burlington boys and girls indoor track teams competed Monday night in the Middlesex League seeding meet at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Boys and girls indoor track teams from  competed Monday night in the first meet of the season between Middlesex League teams, at the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury.

Several Burlington athletes had standout individual performances, including junior David Taranto, who placed first overall in the boys mile run with a time of four minutes, 33.39 seconds, and senior shot putter Joe Hoffman, who won the event with a distance of 50 feet, five inches.

Senior Ashley Steadman placed second in the girls shot put with a distance of 32 feet, nine inches. Senior Jennifer Hamvas came in third in the girls one-mile with a time of five minutes, 51.3 seconds.

In the 1000-meter run, Burlington's Trevor Dutton finished third with a time of two minutes, 44.78 seconds, while Kristin Humphrey's took third in the girls race at three minutes, 23 seconds.
