CAMBRIDGE, MA — Locals might see a big number of police in the Kendall Square area Thursday — but it's likely just part of an active shooter drill.

Starting around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, state police, Cambridge police and other Cambridge first-responders will converge on the CambridgeSide Galleria mall for the mass shooting drill.

"Members of the public who observe or hear police activity in the area are advised that this is only a training unless notified otherwise," state police said in an advisory Tuesday.
