Public safety personnel responded to the crash near the intersection of Market Street and Columbia Street in the city's Port neighborhood. Cambridge police told Patch that two people were transported to area hospitals from the scene. The department's initial report said there were serious injuries.
A citywide alert issued at 1:02 a.m. announced that the intersection and some surrounding streets were closed to traffic so investigators could examine the circumstances of the crash. The roadway has since reopened to vehicle traffic, police told Patch.
The incident remains under investigation. Police expect to release a more comprehensive statement later. *Patch* will update this post with more information as it becomes available.
