Bomb Threat Prompts Shelter In Place At Harvard University

CAMBRIDGE, MA —Police are investigating a bomb threat at Harvard's Memorial Hall Monday morning, according to the University's police department.

Authorities asked the Harvard community near Memorial Hall to shelter in place Monday morning as police investigated the threat. Memorial Hall was evacuated as law enforcement searched the building.

The shelter-in-place order was lifted at approximately 9:25 a.m., though authorities continued to ask people to avoid the area around Memorial Hall and Science Center Plaza. Memorial Hall was later closed until further notice as police remained on scene. Memorial Church was also closed shortly after 10 a.m. out of an abundance of caution.

No explosive device has been publicly reported, and authorities have not announced any arrests or provided additional information about the origin of the threat.

Memorial Hall is located near the intersection of Cambridge, Kirkland, and Quincy streets and includes Sanders Theatre and Annenberg Hall.
