Created over the course of fourteen years, Azadeh Akhlaghi’s project stages and photographs pivotal moments from Iran’s tumultuous twentieth-century history. Drawing on meticulous archival research and her background in cinema, she casts professional and nonprofessional actors and photographs each scene from multiple angles to reimagine historical events as complex tableaux, set in real locations in Iran.&nbsp;

In sixteen images—three presented as large-scale prints—Akhlaghi depicts eleven pivotal incidents highlighting the cycle of successful and failed efforts by Iranians to reclaim control of their country between 1908—when the Shah quashed the first National Assembly—and 1979, when the monarchy was overthrown and Islamic rule began.

This multi-sensory gathering's theme is “Systems,” inviting attendees to consider the often-invisible frameworks that shape how we live, move, and connect with one another. Participating artists will examine what sustains these systems, whom they benefit, and how they might be challenged or reimagined.

Beasts director Jonathan Russell will be joined by pianist Solon Gordon and bassoonist Meryl Summers in his compositional response to the dislocations and disruptions of our current moment called “We Reflect, We Grieve, We Rise.” 
After this, the Beasts present two more of Russell’s original compositions and close with a rousing rendition of the African American Spiritual and protest song “Down by the Riverside.”

Skill Development: Ball control, possession, finishing, team tactical training, and multi-themed camps. Campers receive evaluations weekly, and parents receive daily photos and updates of training. Home Grown: We are run by established, credentialed local teachers and coaches. Many CSS campers are accepted into our CIT program and become coaches. Affordable: $315 per week (Elite Camp $350); 3-week player development pass: $270/week 5- to 8-week player development pass ~$200 per week, Multi-Sport camp: $285/week; $2,000 for 10-week summer pass CSS Camper Gear: All campers receive a custom-designed ball and a dri-fit shirt.
