After leaving a successful career in investment banking to pursue music full-time, Brown toured with Alison Krauss and Union Station before forming the Alison Brown Quartet. Since then, she has released 12 critically acclaimed albums, performed at renowned festivals and venues including the Kennedy Center, Newport Folk Festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and received numerous honors for her contributions to American roots music.

Beyond the stage, Brown is the co-founder of Compass Records Group, one of the most respected independent labels in roots music, and continues to shape the future of the genre as an educator, producer, and advocate.
