Cambridge Officer Shoots, Kills Man Seen With Kukri Knife
A 20-year-old man was killed by police after a confrontation in the Cambridgeport area Wednesday afternoon.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — The Middlesex County District Attorney is investigating a fatal police shooting that happened Wednesday afternoon in the Cambridgeport area involving a man with a knife.
Police responded to the neighborhood around 1:15 p.m. after a local resident called 911 to report a man who had jumped out the window of an apartment building while holding a knife.
When paramedics arrived, they found Sayed Faisal, 20 of Cambridge, in an alley behind a building along Sidney Street bleeding and holding a knife. Faisal fled from the paramedics and police.

Police followed Faisal to Chestnut Street and ordered him to put down the weapon, later identified as a kukuri knife.
Cambridge police claim Faisal began moving toward them. One officer used a non-lethal sponge projectile to try to stop Faisal. Police claim the round didn't work, leading to an officer firing a shot at Faisal. He later died at Mass General, according to Middlesex DA Marian Ryan.
