Cambridge Festival Shooting: 2 Injured

Police say a suspect is in custody following a shooting in Technology Square.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — Two people were injured in a daytime shooting that ripped through a festival in Technology Square late Sunday afternoon. A suspect is in custody and a firearm has been recovered, Cambridge Police said. The two victims have been transported to the hospital with non-life threatening lower-body injuries, police said.

The shooting was reported at 4:44 p.m. near 200 Technology Square in the northwest corner of Main St. and Vassar St./Galileo Galilei Way, MIT Police said. Authorities asked everyone to clear the area.

The Cambridge Caribbean Festival was in the area Sunday. The carnival was shut down and police are clearing the scene. People with flags draped around their shoulders could be seen walking away from nearby streets.
