Cambridge Street Cleaning, What To Know 2018

It's that time of year. Street cleaning in Cambridge is back on.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — It's April and Spring and that is synonymous with cleaning for some, including the Cambridge Street Sweepers. Don't forget: Street cleaning is back on. Check the signs on your street or go to the link below to see your street cleaning schedule. But don't get towed. That's the worst.

Public Works mechanically sweeps each street in Cambridge once per month, April through December (if the weather isn't too crazy). Signs are posted on each residential street indicating the schedule. They want to make sure to get the entire street, so if you leave your car on a day when it's street cleaning day you will likely get a hefty ticket and towed.

Citywide street sweeping includes twice yearly vacuum sweeping to improve stormwater quality, according to officials.

The city also has a power washer is uses to clean public trash and recycling receptacles (no word on how often this happens), and they use it for a graffiti removal program.
