Cambridge's $320K Outdoor Public Restroom Now Open
The Portland Loo lets you go in style.

CAMBRIDGE, MA – No, it's not the name of Cambridge's newest speakeasy. The Portland Loo, now operational in Central Square, is the city's new state-of-the-art, $320,000 outdoor public restroom. It is the second to open in Cambridge, behind a Portland Loo that debuted in 2016 at General MacArthur Park in Harvard Square.
According to the Boston Globe, stainless steel, "graffiti-proof" walls, ventilation at the top and bottom and handicap accessibility come with the six-figure price tag. The project was approved in 2015 through participatory budgeting, which allows residents to vote on spending for capital funds.
The restroom is located at the corner of Massachusetts and Western avenues.
