Celebrity Series Presents An Evening With Mandolin Extraordinaire Chris Thile at Sanders Theatre

On Tuesday, November 21, mandolinist Chris Thile will perform at Sanders Theatre in Cambridge, MA at 8:00 p.m. The performance is hosted by Celebrity Series of Boston, and marks Thile's fifth Celebrity Series performance.

Thile is an American mandolinist, singer, songwriter, and radio personality, who made his Celebrity Series debut in 2012 with the Goat Rodeo Sessions. He was seen most recently in March 2017 performing with Yo-Yo Ma and Edgar Meyer.

Thile began playing the mandolin at five-years old and at age 8, he joined acoustic trio, Nickel Creek with his family.

Nickel Creek announced an indefinite hiatus in 2006. That same year, Thile formed a brass quintet band called "How To Grow A Band," which went through a few name changes before the members settled at "Punch Brothers." Aside from his work in Punch Brothers, Thile is the host of NPR's weekly radio show, A Prairie Home Companion.
