CHA's Bike 4 Books Raises $25,000 to Support Project READ

Project READ is an initiative of the CHA Department of Pediatrics that promotes childhood literacy in a medical setting.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), an academic community health system serving Cambridge, Somerville and Boston’s metro-north region successfully raised $25,000 at its annual Bike 4 Books spin-a-thon to support Project READ (Read Each and Every Day), CHA’s childhood literacy initiative.

The event was held at the Malkin Athletic Center at Harvard University (MAC) on Saturday, March 5, and staff from across CHA as well as community members participated. CHA is deeply thankful to the corporate sponsors who helped to make the event so successful, which include: Epic Systems, Eastern Bank, Winter Hill Bank, East Cambridge Savings Bank, Middlesex Federal Savings, East Boston Savings Bank, Cataldo Ambulance, Personal Healthcare, and DRINKmaple. CHA is also grateful to the MAC and its staff for hosting the event.

Project READ is an initiative of the CHA Department of Pediatrics that promotes childhood literacy in a medical setting. All of the money raised at the spin-a-thon will help purchase books to give to children who come to CHA for care. Over the years, Project READ has donated more than 200,000 books to CHA’s pediatric patients.
