City Of Cambridge: Being One With The Earth: Telling Stories With Papercutting

The workshops, which will begin on Saturday, April 3, from 12-1:30 p.m., will use the ancient art of Chinese Papercutting.

Zonghe (Elena) Li, a grantee of the Cambridge Arts Council and the Massachusetts Cultural Council, will host 3 workshops at the Cambridge Public Library, titled Being One with The Earth: Telling Stories with Papercutting. The workshops, which will begin on Saturday, April 3, from 12-1:30 p.m., will use the ancient art of Chinese Papercutting, digital animation, poetry, and art to tell stories about species extinction, the interconnectivity of various life forms, and the art of living harmoniously with nature. together by creating a multi-media presentation using a combination of traditional Chinese papercut, watercolor, poetry, video, and digital animation. Participants in the series will learn how to create stories to share with all using a combination of mediums.

Zhonghe (Elena) Li is a multi-media artist based in Cambridge, MA. Li's creativity is inspired by her love of nature’s diversity and concern for the future of the planet. Li’s work is deeply influenced by the Taoist philosophy of being one with nature. A separate registration is required to participate in each event.
