Governor Baker Announces Statewide Rollback To Phase III, Step 1 From December 13 In City Of Cambridge

Cambridge has remained at Step 1 of Phase III since the summer.

Governor Baker announced that he will institute a statewide rollback to Phase III, Step 1 of the Commonwealth’s Reopening Plan on Sunday, December 13. Cambridge has remained at Step 1 of Phase III since the summer.

The following are important changes and reminders for residents and businesses that go in effect on December 13:

  • Outdoor gatherings at event venues or in public settings are limited to a maximum of 50 persons in a venue or space.
  • Hosts of outdoor gatherings of greater than 25 people will be required to provide advance notice of the gathering their local board of health.
  • Reduced capacity from 50% to 40% for most industry sectors.
  • Masks required to be worn in restaurants at all times except when actively eating or drinking.
  • Masks required to be worn at all times in gyms.
  • Masks required to be worn in offices when not in your own workspace and alone.

At private residences, indoor gatherings remain limited to 10 people and outdoor gatherings remain limited to 25 people. All gatherings in private residents must end and disperse by 9:30 PM.

Residents are also reminded that the Commonwealth’s Stay At Home Advisory remains in effect. All residents are advised to stay home between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless engaging in activities such as going to work, running critical errands to get groceries or addressing health needs, and taking a walk. These efforts are to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
