Important Reminders To Help Prevent The Spread Of Coronavirus In Cambridge

As cases continue to increase in Massachusetts and in Cambridge, the City is reminding residents that COVID-19 is still with us. Help prevent the spread by remembering the basics:

• Wear a mask or face covering.
• Practice physical distancing.
• Wash your hands for 20 seconds.

The following are some reminders from the City you can use to protect yourself, your family, and your community to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Special Reminders:

• People with or exposed to COVID-19, or who have COVID-19 symptoms, should stay home.
• In Cambridge, masks must be worn at all times in places of business, except when working alone in an individual office with a door closed or when working alone in an office suite with no other individuals present. Anyone age five or older must wear a mask or face covering at all times when on or in public places.
• Practice social distancing while using carpools, rideshares, paratransit, taxis, and personal vehicles:
  • Limit number of non-household occupants in vehicle whenever possible.
  • All occupants should wear a face covering at all times while in the vehicle.
  • Open vehicle windows whenever possible or keep air vents open.
  • Keep disinfectant wipes in vehicle to clean touchpoints after passenger(s) exits the vehicle (e.g., door handles, instrument panel, door locks, window controls).
• Holiday travel increases chances of getting and spreading the coronavirus.
  • While it is a difficult and personal decision, staying home and avoiding travel is the best way to protect yourself and others.
• Indoor gatherings at private residences are limited to 10 people and outdoor gatherings at private residences are limited to 25 people. Mask-wearing is encouraged at gatherings at private residences with non-household members.
• Schedule a flu shot (vaccine). While a flu shot is always recommended, it’s especially important this year.
• Get tested.
  • The City of Cambridge and Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD) are offering free COVID-19 testing for Cambridge residents.
