At Least 11 Injured After Duck Boat Overturns Near Charles River

State police are investigating after a duck boat overturned near the Charles River, sending 11 people to area hospitals.

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. — At least 11 people were injured Saturday after a duck boat being towed overturned at an entrance to the Charles River, officials said.

Fire officials said all 31 passengers aboard the duck boat were accounted for following the crash on Education Street around 3 p.m. Officials said 11 people with varying injuries were taken to area hospitals, according to WHDH Boston 7 News.

In a statement, Boston Duck Tours said that after a tow rope broke, a vehicle rolled onto its side while being moved on a ramp, according to the report. The boat company suspended operations for the rest of Saturday.

The incident remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police and the U.S. Coast Guard.
