Mayor: Video Of Cop Punching Black Harvard Student 'Disturbing'
Police who responded to reports of a naked man standing on a traffic island said he resisted arrest.

CAMBRIDGE, MA – The mayor of Cambridge is calling a video that shows a police officer repeatedly punching a black Harvard University student while he's pinned to the ground "disturbing." In a statement Sunday, Mayor Marc McGovern said police officials have told him the altercation on the video is under investigation.
Officers responded Friday night to reports of a naked man standing on a traffic island. Police said he resisted arrest once on the ground and the officer struck him to gain compliance. That man, Selorm Ohene, faces charges including disorderly conduct and assault.
"Cambridge affirms that Black Lives Matter, but it must be true in practice as well," McGovern said. He added that city councilors have reached out to community organizers and student groups and the police department will inform the public of any developments during the investigation.
