Summer is the perfect time for students to get back on track with their academic plan or get ahead with electives and general education requirements. With a mix of online and blended hybrid course options, Middlesex has a plan in place to help students meet their goals and have a productive and successful summer. MCC offers flexible schedules, high-quality courses and affordable prices. Summer semester starts on Tuesday, June 1.
"MCC summer courses can help you stay on track and complete your degree on time,” said Maria Gonzalez, MCC Academic Advisor. “For example, if you need to take a particular course in the Fall, you could take the prerequisite course for it in the summer – helping you finish the requirements you need to complete without delay."

During the Summer semester, students of all ages can take classes to improve their GPA, finish their degree faster, earn transferable college credits and get an early start on their education. Ellen Grondine, MCC’s Dean of Education & K-16 Partnerships, encourages high school students to enroll in summer courses at Middlesex as soon as possible. After a year of remote learning, MCC can help high school students get college ready.
“Many high school students take advantage of the summer months to tackle a college-level course that may need a little extra attention and focus,” Grondine said. “The time spent this summer will save time later as students are earning college credits and meeting high school graduation requirements. Courses fill fast, so planning ahead can really make all the difference.”
MCC’s Summer sessions offer a variety of course subjects, from art to anthropology; the performing arts to business; communications to criminal justice; education to English; health to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM); and so much more. With accelerated sessions, Middlesex helps students fit education into their busy lives.
"Taking summer classes at MCC is a smart and fast way to get classes completed in either three-, five- or eight-week sessions,” said Josselyn Porter, MCC Academic Advisor. “This can lighten your load for Fall and Spring, and get you to graduation quicker.”
The three-week Summer QuickStart Session will run from June 1 to June 18. Summer Session One is five weeks and runs June 1 to July 1; Summer Session Two is eight weeks, running June 1 to July 28; and Summer Session Three will run for five weeks from July 13 to August 12.
For 21 years, Middlesex has designed award-winning online curriculums that allow students to interact with content, professors and their fellow students in immersive and meaningful ways. The Summer 2021 semester will run via three primary learning modalities – online with class meeting times, online with no class meeting times and online with on-campus lab.
Students taking courses online with class meeting times have fully online classes with scheduled meeting days and times. In online classes with no class meeting times, students have fully online classes with no scheduled meeting days or times as their lectures, lessons and exercises are completed online, over the course of the semester.
Online and on-campus lab courses combine online instruction and on-campus labs, and follow strict health and safety guidelines such as social distancing and mask wearing.
MCC understands that students need to feel financially stable and supported, and that students’ money matters. The college offers personalized financial aid counseling, payment plans and a supportive community to help keep students on track. Students who fill out their FAFSA by May 1 may qualify for financial support to help them get the most out of their education.
MCC is registering for both the Summer and Fall 2021 semesters. For more information and to register for courses, visit www.middlesex.mass.edu/summer/ or call 1-800-818-3434.
