Police Seek Man After Reported Lewd Act On MBTA Red Line Train

CAMBRIDGE, MA — The MBTA Transit Police Department is looking to identify a man it believes committed a lewd act in front of a woman on board a Red Line train recently.

The incident took place at approximately 12 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, while the train was traveling between Park Street and Harvard stations. According to police, the man sat directly across from a female passenger before exposing his genitals and committing a lewd act.

Park Street station is located in downtown Boston along Boston Common and serves both the Red and Green lines. Harvard station is located in Harvard Square in Cambridge and is served by the Red Line. The two stations are separated by four Red Line stops: Charles/MGH, Kendall/MIT, Central, and Harvard.

Transit Police are investigating the incident as open and gross lewdness. Under Massachusetts law, the offense is punishable by up to three years in state prison, up to two years in jail, or a fine of up to $300.
