Since the swearing in of Mr. Trump, both documented and undocumented residents as well as Muslims have been under attack. Hard working, vulnerable, average people, including children, have been the target of Mr. Trump’s paranoia and hatred.
Cambridge is and will remain a sanctuary city. We will remain resolute in our commitment to each our neighbors regardless of their documentation status or religion. Commitments and statements are important in reminding people who we are what we stand for, but people will need more than statements. They will need real, on the ground help.

I am proud to announce that with the support of Mayor Simmons, my office, the Office of the Vice-Mayor, has added a volunteer position titled Liaison for Immigrant Affairs.
And I am further honored to name long time Cambridge resident, activist and advocate for immigrant rights, Emmanuel “Manny” Lusardi to that position.
In this position Manny will be the go-to person for documented and undocumented residents who need help and advocacy.
“I’m honored to be named to this position and have the cities trust in me to support this vulnerable population. My goal is to help those who are under attack by these recent actions out of the White House and to help advocate for them and connect them with services in the community and to help lessen their fears,” said Manny Lusardi.
“It’s important that we rally and protest, but we can’t lose site of the fact that people are going to need help navigating services, legal help, housing help, emotional and physical support. Manny is the perfect person to fill this role and I want any immigrant who is scared, or struggling to know that they have our support,” said Vice-Mayor McGovern.
Anyone wishing to contact Manny should call the Vice-Mayor’s office at, 617-349-4264.
