Toscanini’s Ice Cream To Open Second Cambridge Shop

The decades-old ice cream shop plans to open a second location as the original closes for renovations.

CAMBRIDGE, MA – Out with the old Toscanini's (for now), in with the new. As the Central Square mainstay closes for renovations later this month, a second ice cream shop is slated to open in East Cambridge, according to Boston Magazine.

The new location will be at the corner of First and Rogers streets. Gus Rancatore, who owns Toscanini's with his sister, Mimi, told Boston Magazine they hope to open the second shop at the end of January. Its main location will shut down around that time as the surrounding space is renovated into a boutique hotel.

The East Cambridge shop will fill a 3,500-square-foot space less than 10 minutes from the Lechmere T stop and 15 minutes from Kendall. The larger shop will have approximately 40 seats and more room for a display kitchen. Production will also move from the original Central Square location, Boston Magazine reported.
