8 Candidates Pick Up Nomination Papers In Canton
No papers have been certified yet, but eight candidates have picked up papers indicating their intention to run for town office.

CANTON, MA — Nomination papers for the town election on April 2 have been available since Jan. 2. So far, eight candidates have picked up nomination papers, indicating their intentions to seek public office.
No papers have been certified yet, according to Town Clerk Tracy Kenney, so no one is officially on the ballot at this time. Candidates need to get at least 50 registered voters in Canton to sign their nomination papers and return them to the town clerk's office for certification. Candidates have until Feb. 8 to pick up nomination papers, and until Feb. 12 to collect the signatures and withdraw the papers.

- John Connolly (incumbent) - Selectmen - Three-year term
- Lisa Lopez, Michael Loughran, James Quigley - Selectmen - Two-year term to fill a vacancy
- Kristian Merenda, Kathy McCarthy - School Committee - Three-year term
- William Gavin (incumbent) - Board of Assessors - Three-year term
- Margaret Mead, Emily Prigo (incumbents) - Library Board of Trustees - Three-year term
The following positions will be on the ballot:
- Board of Selectmen - Three-year term
- Board of Selectmen - Two-year term to fill a vacancy
- Board of Assessors - Three-year term
- Board of Health - Three year term.
- School Committee (two positions) - Three-year term
- Planning Board - Five-year term
- Trustees of Public Library (three positions) - Three-year term
