
Employees of Bank of Canton have chosen the Jimmy Fund/Dana Farber Cancer Institute, NeighborWorks Southern Mass. (formerly Neighborhood Housing Services of the South Shore), and Norfolk Advocates for Children to receive donations from the bank.
At a recent employee celebration, held at Lombardo’s in Randolph, employees were asked to vote on their preferred charities to receive donations from Bank of Canton. They voted for these three charities, which will receive the following donations:
- Jimmy Fund/Dana Farber Cancer Institute
- NeighborWorks Southern Mass.
- Norfolk Advocates for Children
“It is a vital part of our mission to reach out to nonprofit organizations that help people improve the quality of their lives,” said Stephen P. Costello, President, Bank of Canton. “I am so proud that our employees chose such tremendous organizations that are dedicated to making a difference in our communities, from affordable housing to making strides in children’s healthcare. We hope that our contributions will help these organizations continue their admirable work and demonstrate our support and appreciation for all that they do.”

NeighborWorks Southern Mass., a partnership of residents, businesses and local governments headquartered in Quincy, believes that affordable housing and stable neighborhoods help individuals and families realize their full dignity and potential. The organization helps people have a safe and affordable place to live by developing and managing affordable housing, educating and assisting first time homebuyers, and helping homeowners repair and maintain their homes.

“We will use the donation to enhance trauma-focused care for child victims of sexual assault and their families through coordination of mental health services intervention and support,” said Joel Fishman, President, Board of Directors, Norfolk Advocates for Children. “We thank Bank of Canton and all its employees for supporting the important work that we do for children.”
Serving Norfolk County and based in Foxboro, Norfolk Advocates for Children is a nonprofit organization that partners with more than 50 public and private organizations to provide specialized services to children and families that have experienced physical, sexual or domestic abuse. Applying a child-friendly, culturally sensitive and multidisciplinary approach modeled throughout the nation, the organization provides critical care to children and their non-offending family members.
The Jimmy Fund solely supports the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, raising funds for adult and pediatric cancer care and research to improve the chance for survival of cancer patients worldwide. The Jimmy Fund Clinic is one of the world’s premier centers for pediatric cancer research and treatment. Founded in 1948, the Jimmy Fund has been integral to the success of treatment for once-incurable childhood cancers, with more than a 75% cure rate. More than 89 cents per dollar raised is directed toward eradicating cancer and related diseases.
Founded in 1835, Bank of Canton supports a wide range of nonprofit organizations throughout the Canton area.
