Book Talk by Acclaimed Novelist Randy Susan Meyers

CANTON, MA - May 22, 2013-Acclaimed novelist Randy
Susan Meyers, author of The Murderer’s Daughters and the new novel The Comfort of Lies, will speak on Wednesday, June 19, 8:00 p.m., at Temple Beth Abraham, 1301 Washington Street, Canton.  Admission is free.

Since the release of her debut The Murderer’s Daughters in 2010, Meyers, has become an international bestselling author, earning glowing critical praise, award nominations, and a devoted readership for her thought-provoking, emotionally-resonant novels.  Published in sixteen languages, The Murderer’s Daughters has been called one of the “knockout debuts of the decade” (Los Angeles Times), “psychologically complex [and] satisfying”
(Publishers Weekly) and “an impressively executed novel, disturbing and convincing” (Boston Globe); was named one of the best books of 2010 by Daily Candy, GoodReads, and Book Reporter; and was a Target Book Club Pick.  It was also named a “Must Read Book” and one of the “2011 Ten Best Works of Fiction” by the Massachusetts Center for the Book.  The Temple Beth Abraham Book Group recently discussed the novel and gave it glowing praise.

Meyers’ new novel, The Comfort of Lies, explores the collateral damage of infidelity, the difficulty of balancing
motherhood, marriage, and work, and the dark, private struggles many experience but rarely reveal.  Told in alternating points of view, the novel is on the bestseller list of the Boston Globe, which wrote of it: “Randy Susan Meyers’s second novel is sharp and biting, and sometimes wickedly funny when the author skewers Boston’s class and neighborhood dividing lines, but it has a lot of heart, too.  Meyers writes beautifully about a formerly good
marriage — the simple joys of stability, the pleasures of veteran intimacy — and deftly dissects just how ugly things can get after infidelity.”
