Combined Jewish Philanthropies Announces Recipients of South Area Jewish Community Grants
April 30, 2013 – Boston – Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP), Boston’s Jewish Federation, announced the nine South Area Jewish organizations chosen as recipients of more than $35,000 in grants.
The recipients are: Tri Congregation Steering Committee, JCRC – Telem, Temple Shalom of Milton, Temple Chayai Shalom (Easton), Shaaray Shalom (Hingham), Boston Jewish Film Festival, Temple Beth Emunah (Brockton), Kehillah Schechter Academy (Norwood) and Temple Israel (Sharon). They were selected based on their use of transformational and innovative methods to encourage engagement and collaboration in the South Area Jewish community.
“The nine recipients of CJP’s grants have developed a variety of programs and services that share the common goal of strengthening the South Area community,” said Neil Aronson, CJP’s South Area Planning Committee Chair. “We look forward to witnessing the increased level of community engagement that grows from their proposed initiatives.”

The grants will support a range of initiatives that promote a welcoming environment and foster a sense of community, from regional events and service trips for teens to a community-wide cultural speaker series. Other initiatives include a professional development workshop for supplemental school educators, monthly hands-on workshops targeting interfaith families, and a community garden project.
