Local Acclaimed Author to speak at Temple Beth Abraham - You Saved Me, Too: What a Holocaust Survivor Taught Me about Living, Dying, Loving, Fighting and Swearing in Yiddish.

CANTON, MA—Author Susan Kushner Resnick will speak about her acclaimed book “You Saved Me, Too: What a Holocaust Survivor Taught Me about Living, Dying, Loving, Fighting, and Swearing in Yiddish” on Thursday, February 7, 8 p.m., Temple Beth Abraham. Snow date will be Sunday, Feb. 10, 7 p.m.

A Sharon resident, Susan wrote her book as a love letter to Aron Lieb, the man 44 years her senior who turned out to be her soulmate. Written as a lone-voiced conversation as she sits at his deathbed, You Saved Me, Too weaves together personal reminiscences with accounts of Aron’s history, covering his years as a poor, hungry boy in Poland, a young man in Auschwitz and other death and labor camps, and a hardworking immigrant stuck in a loveless marriage. Throughout, Susan writes with wit, warmth, and tenderness about her bond with Aron and about their adventures, episodes that include detours into exasperation as she makes it her mission to give him a dignified and peaceful death.

While she navigated the health care system and fought with bureaucrats in Greater Boston, Aron taught her how to be a better person. Throughout their 15-year friendship, Susan learned the value of dark humor, the definition of a good Jew and the cure for loneliness. While this book will make you laugh and cry, You Saved Me, Too tackles some important subjects, including misconceptions about those men and women who survived the Holocaust, the need for medical and psychological services for them, and flaws in the treatment of all the elderly.

Susan will be signing as well as selling books following her talk.You Saved Me, Too is available at bookstores, including Barnes & Noble at the Walpole Mall. Refreshments will be served.
