CANTON, MA—March 14, 2013 – Temple Beth Abraham is a buzz with programs for the community, as well as for the congregation. 2013 has been full of exciting, fun and education programs with many more being planned for the remainder of the year.
Since January, we have brought two fascinating adult education programs to the community. Genealogy expert, Meredith Hoffman of the Jewish Genealogy Society of Greater Boston, provided attendees with the basic
strategies, tools and resources to begin to research their ancestry. “I have always wanted to find out more about my family history. Meredith was compelling and gave me the jump start to do just that,” David Jacobson, TBA congregant, explained. Another adult education program brought a local author from Sharon to speak. Her book, "You Saved Me, Too: What a Holocaust Survivor Taught Me
about Living, Dying, Fighting, and Swearing in Yiddish," came to life as she spoke about this touching story. “Susan Kushner Resnick engaged the audience about her unique 15-year friendship with Holocaust survivor and the insights she gained about the Jewish community. Some were heartbreaking, while others were inspiring,” described Sherry Alpert, Temple Beth Abraham Board member.
These two programs and fascinating speakers are just a sign of the exciting adult education programs planned at Temple Beth Abraham over the next few months. Renee Tepper, chair of Adult Education, was encouraged at the success of these programs which were at no charge, were open to the public and were nonsectarian. “With the popularity of the first two adult education events, I plan on bringing many more of these programs to the community,” explained Renee Tepper.

Our Congregational Educator, Melissa Rudman, leads a thriving group of women, Women of Wisdom. The group meets monthly discussing a variety of topics from friendships, women’s health and well-being, as well as sharing holiday traditions. Judy Steinberg smiles as she explains, Women of Wisdom provides us with an outlet to learn and laugh. I, always leave with a great big smile.”
Religious School has been moving through the year with full steam, with a fresh and unique curriculum, a progressive 2-day/week program, and engaging professional team, the children are experiencing a whole new type of Hebrew School. Our youngest children, Kindergarteners learned about Chanukah by
building the Temple in Jerusalem out of LEGO, our Purim celebration included a family celebration including performances by one class and a trivia game by another. Most recently, Passover learning included making their very own Matzo. “Who would have thought that my
kids would be so excited about being in Religious School? Whether it is the day for classroom study or ‘Chavurah” learning on Shabbat ….my kids can’t wait to walk through the doors at TBA each week,” according to Adrienne Jacobson, parent of twins in the Shorashim (Kindergarten) class and a son in the Zayin (7th grade) class.
