Whoo’s Who at the Museum of American Bird Art

CANTON, MA— The newly named Museum of American Bird Art at Mass Audubon, formerly called the Mass Audubon Visual Arts Center, has hired Tammis Coffin as their lead educator. Museum director Amy Montague said, “As we prepare for a new cycle of growth and innovation, we welcome Tammis with her impressive background in museum, art, and nature education.”

 

Tammis says, “I am excited to work with the Museum of American Bird Art to connect people with art and nature. We all need nature and creativity to keep us happy, healthy and whole. The exhibitions, the ceramics studio, and the classes, camps and trails are great resources for the community.”

Tammis Coffin joins Mass Audubon from The Norman Rockwell Museum. She has served as the director of education with the Norman Bird Sanctuary and as education and outreach coordinator for The Trustees of Reservations. Tammis studied ecology and creative arts at the University of Maine and the College of the Atlantic and has published books on these topics with the Maine Arts Commission and Friends of Acadia. She is a native of Lincoln, Massachusetts.

Come meet Tammis from 1-4pm on March 16 at the Museum’s, “Hoot Happenings,” an afternoon of live owls and indoor and outdoor activities to complement the current exhibition, Only Owls. Tammis will be answering questions about the 2013 season of the Wild at Art summer day camp.
