Annual CAPE Spelling Bee is Friday
Check out your spelling skills & those of your friends and neighbors at the annual CAPE Spelling Bee.
Do you think you can spell? Come out & see if you can spell better than some of Canton's finest spellers! On Friday, November 22, the Canton Alliance for Public Education, or CAPE, will host its Annual Spelling Bee.
The early part of the evening, starting at 6 p.m., features Spelling Teams from Canton's three elementary schools. There are 3rd, 4th and 5th grade teams that compete against the teams from the other elementary schools to boast for top honors for the year for each grade. It is an honor just to be on a team and it is all done for fun!
The Middle School competition features teams from each of the three grades who compete to be the Middle School Winner and the High School has teams from each of its four grades competing for High School Winner.

After a short break, the adult and community teams compete to try their hands at spelling There are teams of teachers, administrators and parent groups. Not to be outdone, the Fire Department and Police Department often have teams as well, as do local business organizations, Girl Scouts Leaders, Boy Scout Leaders and other community based groups.
Money is raised through admission fees, registration fees for the adult teams, raffles, concessions and the ever popular "Sponsor a Letter" program. Money raised goes towards CAPE's Grant Program, that help support learning an innovative programs in the Canton Public Schools.

Usually held in January, this year there is a change in timing.
This years Spelling Bee will be held on November 22 at Canton High's Morse Auditorium starting at 6:00 p.m. Come on out to support our schools and find out who is the best speller in Canton!
