We all want to look good, but we don’t realize that how we take care of our skin in our teens and 20s will affect how it will look in our 30s, 40s, 50s and so on. There are two simple concepts that are easy to incorporate into your everyday life. Below are the 2 things I wish I knew in my 20s....

Start Anti-Aging

Believe it or not, Anti-aging starts a lot sooner than you would think...in our 20’s. The most important thing in this stage, is prevention. Getting on the right home care products and taking good care of your skin is simple, and super important for long term skin health. Most importantly, wearing a physical SPF every day. Pick a light SPF that is comfortable on your face and gives you a nice healthy glow (my personal favorite is Skinceuticals SPF 50 tinted). This will delay the appearance of wrinkles and keep you looking naturally younger for longer. Schedule a free skincare assessment at Dream Spa Medical to find out which products you should be using at home.

Stay Out Of The Sun

Sun exposure causes most of the skin changes that we think of as a normal part of aging. Over time, the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) light damages the fibers in the skin called elastin. When these fibers break down, the skin begins to sag, stretch, and lose its ability to go back into place after stretching. The skin also bruises and tears more easily -- taking longer to heal. So while sun damage to the skin may not be apparent when you’re young, it will definitely show later in life. A healthy alternative to tanning is all natural spray tanning. We use AVIVA which looks natural and doesn’t have any scent or asticky feel. Call to schedule a free consult for customized spray tanning.
